Nomad feedback

A thread to collect feedback for Nomad (https://nmd.co or https://github.com/kyokan/nomad-desktop), a social network currently being developed by Kyokan for Handshake names. Alternatively, leave feedback directly by making a post on Nomad :)
If you need help setting up, skyinclude/ made this awesome tutorial! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz7G3gtbe1Y&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=SkyInclude

Add the ability to pin a post.

Notifications would be nice (when someone react/comments on my post)

It's a bit hard to switch between accounts on web.
While the desktop version supports multiple accounts, on web it remember your domain and don't allow you to replace it.

The "Registered Domains" in the sidebar seems to be showing domains in an alphabetic sorted order.
It would be more interesting to be sorted by register block number, making the list more dynamic.

From @dees: nomad should be on a Handshake name!

Out of curiosity, I started up my own fnd node. Am I the only other person running it? It only shows 2 peers available and its taking forever to sync with handshake.
Daniel Tsui
Neel Yadav: I think those 2 peers are our seed nodes.
You're likely to be the only one because anyone using Nomad should pop off when their laptop is off.
Filing an issue would be great if you have any trouble syncing.
You can also check out the /docs directory in the fnd repo, and point fnd to an existing fully synced Handshake node.

Neel Yadav: Just curious, what's the current size of the .fnd directory right now? If it's not a lot, I think I can keep one running online for a few months at least.
Neel Yadav
Daniel Tsui: Yeah it's all synced now, I had it connected to my HSD node on localhost so I thought it would go a lot faster.

Clicking on the like button repeatedly keeps increasing the count. Is this indented behavior (like Medium's claps) or a bug?
Daniel Tsui
Rithvik Vibhu: For now, this is intended but always down to discuss it. Some context:
Nomad is built on a new, experimental protocol, Footnote. What's unique about this underlying p2p network is that it was purpose built for Handshake names, and gives a finite amount of space (currently 1MB) to each name.
We think a lot of interesting and novel applications can be built on top of Handshake and Footnote. I also think having self-sovereign space with your HNS name really drives home the idea that owning your name is a form of digital land: yours and nobody else's.
The idea around likes (and potentially other interactions) is that each "like" actually uses up space on your blob, and thus isn't unmetered/potentially infinite like Medium's claps. I could see in the future a "super like" taking more space, or requiring some other kind of action (like pinning on IPFS / paying for a certain period of storage on Skynet).
I hope that helps provide a little context! If you're interested, you can learn more about Footnote here:

Daniel Tsui: Footnote looks really interesting! Will try out fnd soon.
About the likes, is there / will there be any way to un-like and free up the space?
Daniel Tsui
Rithvik Vibhu: Yeah, we're thinking about different ways to do it. A lot of possibilities!
Right now if your space goes over it'll delete itself, so we imagine archiving services (both centralized and decentralized) will eventually exist for Footnote.

Awesome project guys. Love that we can use our names as handles on this.
A feature that I think would help populate the app more rapidly would be a sync mechanism so that users can sync their existing twitter, youtube and/or facebook accounts so that if they post on any of their respective accounts it automatically generates an equivalent post on nomad.
Daniel Tsui
Keeong Ng: I agree! Thanks for the feedback!
